Change

Change can be hard. And it can be exciting. Sometimes both at the same time.

I have gone back into clinical medicine after a 6 month sabbatical.  I started at a new clinic with a new electronic medical record (EMR).  New stuff can be stressful, especially when you feel it is slowing you down from doing your job.  But instead of approaching it with frustration and fighting the change, I tried to be curious.  My first day was a steep learning curve as I made a lot of mistakes and did a lot of “learning what not to do in the EMR.” But I tried to keep the attitude that I was learning a lot - and I was, that was the exciting part.  I am not sure that I would have taken that approach even 2 years ago.  My work with forest therapy has me far more open to being curious and remaining present.  I am thankful for this.
